    Roewe+MG planning small-displacement turbocharger / SUV production 2014



    Turbocharged and SUV are two hot spots in recent years, the automotive sector, the two brands SAIC Roewe and MG will be in full force next year these two fields. According to the latest exposure of the product planning, Roewe, MG all levels will usher in a variety of models turbocharged engine and a new six-speed dual-clutch TST gearbox and 6-speed manual gearbox. MG's first SUV will also be in production next year.

    Roewe brand

Currently, the Roewe 750 1.8T turbocharged engine equipped with a (maximum power of 118kW, peak torque 215Nm) and 2.5L naturally aspirated engine (maximum power of 135kW, peak torque of 230Nm); while the current 950 2.0L to 3.0L engines do not meet official car "1.8L" condition of the vehicle, in 2014 with the new 1.8T models, 950 is destined to enter the autonomous official car market.

    In addition, the Roewe 550 plug-in will also increase the strong mixing models to achieve conventional cars and new energy integration. In fact, as early as this car has been exposed in 2010, there were rumors that volume production in 2012, and was subsequently dragged this time, official sources confirmed that it will be finally time to market in 2014. Coincided with the announcement of the new state will subsidize new energy models, I believe, the car should have new manifestations. Performance data, allegedly car fuel consumption is only 2.5L / one hundred kilometers, can be quite fuel-efficient.

    MG brand

    They talk of the MG CS as the first SUV - what about the Ssanyong thingy running about in prototype form with an MG nose?

    That was just a development / test vehicle, possibly for development of the new SUV (which presumably wont take the same name as the concept). There was also an MGR era MG version of the SsangYong Rexton, but they are only counting production vehicles.

    Ah - good. A rebadged Ssanyong is the last thing they need. Should start seeing running prototypes soon I should imagine.

    I fully expect the 4WD, hill climb system etc. to be derived from proven SsangYong developed technology, but if it looks like a SsangYong I will be very disappointed!

    so does this mean that to be purchased as a Government vehicle, the engine must be no larger than a 1.8?

    Not sure that it's a hard rule, but it has been at least a guideline since the Roewe 750 was launched with a 1.8L, you need to be properly important to get something bigger and even that has become less acceptable since the last change at the top.

    I thought the 950 already had a 1.8 but maybe it wasn't actually available at launch even though publicised, should give a noticeable sales increase if so.

    No mention of the MG7, wonder if that is for 2015?

    SAIC next year will launch four new models involving small SUV



    SAIC August sales totaled 409,704 units, an increase of 14.38 percent, of which two brand Roewe and MG offer some contribution.  Netcom community informed through access to information, SAIC plans to next year and then gradually introduced four new models, in order to complete the Roewe and MG brands 240,000 sales target.  It is reported that plans to launch four new models will include a new generation Roewe 750, Roewe 950 new models, hybrid version of the Roewe 550 and MG concern first SUV model.

    As SAIC's two main brands, the future Roewe and MG product lines are continuously enriched.  This year in May, the Roewe brand released to market a new Class A + 550 car, its product lineup more and more perfect, now it gradually perspective deep into the new energy model field, following the 750 models equipped with the hybrid system, the Roewe 550 will also be introduced hybrid version of the model.  The B-Class 750 and 950 B + car replacement will also usher in two models.  In addition, MG brand's product line currently only MG3, MG5, MG6 and MG7 four models for continuing to enrich its product lineup, MG or usher in the next year the launch of its first SUV model.

    Three new vehicles will take the 2.0T engine

    "N Plan": MG Roewe fully effective for the core



    Prior to quickly boost sales scale, SAIC passenger hoping to shorten the gap with joint venture brands as soon as technically.

    I don't know but they don't need direct injection for China and it is not obvious to me why people there would pay extra for a smaller engine with direct injection, so maybe the UK will get them first?

    Where is the SAIC Technology Centre - the 'Phase II' bit is interesting. I'm assuming this is China and not the UK or they'd have made more noise about it here.

    We may have heard more rumours but I dont think SAIC/MG would be shouting about imminent new engines for fear of damaging sales of the cars with the 'older' engines.

    Presumably, if this is tailoring for the Chinese 'water and soil', it'll be a Chinese facility.

    That seems a reasonable assumption. Although the new British MG3 seems to be well received in China, maybe future MGs will be designed with UK suspension and then adapted to Chinese suspension for sale there?

    Longbridge got it's design centre expansion last year, I wonder what is next in line...

    I assume "wind energy" is the aerodynamics facility rather than a wind powered car!
