The Dacia isn't THAT cheap, when you start adding options.  Whereas, the MG is...

In German tests, they will tend to prefer the soft dash and the most airbags - test a Fiesta against a Superb and the Fiesta will lose points for being smaller - so price doesn't really play the role it should. The Fiesta's price omits several hundred pounds for a radio, which is extra on a base model, and they tested an Audi A4 for "under €30k" where the range effectively begins above that.

On the 3STYLE you can add metallic paint, leather, coloured instrument surrounds, graphics... I don't think you can spend more than £2k extra, and if you don't specify those things, I think list is under £10k.

WITH a radio - and cruise control, alloys, bodykit, parking sensors, auto wipers, auto lights, DAB...

The Dacia competitor is presumably the 3TIME.

Just read the review in the shop - its pretty good. The '3 is likened to an old school warm hatch and described as driving 'as an MG should'. It was the clear winner for driver involvement.

It also won in the looks department.

It lost out on the engine - coarse and dated.

They conclude by saying that if you can live without the extra space then a VW UP, Citigo etc are better quality

but they're more expensive than the MG when you've specced them up.

Obviously if you want a smaller car...

But this test was a test on price, those cars are more competitors on qualities (though smaller they will also be expensive)

I wonder whether Proton and Perodua are better competitors for the price?

Is that when compared to the Dacia engine?
And what power/acceleration did the Dacia manage?

Meanwhile, http://www.carpages.co.uk/mg/mg-mg3-review-part-1-17-09-13.asp seems to like the MG3.

Perouda have pulled out the uk market, Proton are launching a bargain basement MPV and the MG6 competitor Preve saloon and Suprima S soon.

The Proton Satria Neo is a good comparison but may be ruled out as it is not a new model and may be dropped soon
