    The CS news is interesting - it's obviously on track. If it gets the 1.5T in the UK then there is surely no reason why the MG3 won't have it?

    It's easy to keep pushing MG to do more, but they need to start addressing the engine options - surely the CS could take the 1.8T from the MG6? And the DTi as well, if they want a real chance of success in the UK/EU.

    For some time now they've been happy to trickle cars onto the market and just be satisfied with a foot in the door. At some point they've got to 'go large' and they're increasingly able to do so. They have the ingredients for a decent range of vehicles, power and technologies.

    I prefer some of the older, more literal translations, more difficult to work out but so much more interesting when you do!  We haven't had any elephant eating snakes for ages!


    Not sure when the CS will arrive, I'm suspecting it may make an appearance at the Shanghai show and be released later in the year, but it is important to get these engines right.   Unlike most western auto makers MG can take it's time to get it right, it's not about to go bankrupt if it doesn't rush them to market!

    With the 1.5T and 2.0T it doesn't really need the 1.8T,  I suspect that will slowly be phased out, it doesn't have dual cooling systems etc. so is a bit out of date for the modern world.   It is a big jump in power though from 135bhp with the 1.5T to 235bhp from the 2.0T!

    I think something does need to plug that gap. The MG6 will have to have some sort of major facelift in the next few years - I'm thinking along the lines of basically a new car utilising the old platform; they need to make the most of that investment and that would also require laying the old K-series finally to rest. Although, having said that, they haven't used it ofr anything else, unlike the MG5/350 platform.

    If they are confident they can spin the FWD MG5 into a 4x4, why not do that with the MG6? after the break with Ssanyong they won't have a 4x4 platform of that size to work on.

    As for the CS, well they've never said anything other than it'll have a global launch. 2014 is when it will happen so that's cracking along at very great speed.

    Mind you, the MG3 was 'late summer' in the UK = Halloween... Smile

    It should be remembered that Zhang Xin was responsible for bringing MG back to life as we know it today. When presented with the "heap of scrap metal" by Wang Hao Liang along with the prospect of the snake getting indigestion from eating the elephant, he could have developed it as a Chinese brand, maybe even with a Chinese brand name but instead he gave all his staff and the entire Chinese motoring press lessons on MGs British history and brand values . Not all the decisions on MG's development where his alone but he did run the company and was amoungst the most enthausiastic about keeping it British. MG enthausiasts all over the world have a lot to thank him for.
