The Roewe E50 had been given a once over with a bit of 'Mod Oct' and displayed at the SMMT. Looks good!

    MG on Facebook 15:02 16/4/2014:

We have some very exciting news to share, as we celebrate MG's 90th anniversary, and look forward to the next 90 years with a display of current and future technology at SMMT HQ in central London today. This display is the global debut of our concept electric vehicle, Dynamo, which appears alongside current production vehicles, MG3 and MG6.

The Dynamo concept EV has been developed in order to fully understand European market demand for a small, electric MG. The concept vehicle is the latest MG to be created at SAIC Motor’s state of the art European Design and Technical Centre (SMTC), located with MG Motor UK, at the Longbridge site in Birmingham.

Can SAIC beat a Renault Zoe at £14k? The G-Whizz was under £10k when it was available (and was also a load of crap).

They kept this quiet though - is this going to be on sale or is it just a (fairly cheap) easy bit of PR?

As a second car for city/town use it is a decent option, just need the UK government to give adequate subsidies to buy the batteries now Dangling Carrot

yes... concept for production when... mentioning this seems to be a brand new area for a company which may seem like a sort of low-volume Dacia to some...

    press release now posted...

They describe it as a concept, but they did that with the MG6, Zero and CS - all of which are here or on the way. The only 'UK concept' that hasn't happened is the MG5 or the Icon.

As an aside, I can't believe none of the other established manufacturers had registered 'Dynamo'!

Google suggests the word is something to do with magic!

Historically from Wikipedia it is a generator of electricity rather than a consumer:

The word dynamo (from the Greek word dynamis; meaning power) was originally another name for an electrical generator, and still has some regional usage as a replacement for the word generator. A small electrical generator built into the hub of a bicycle wheel to power lights is called a hub dynamo, although these are invariably AC devices, and are actually magnetos.

I like it as a name for the MG1 concept, we got the MG3 not the MG Zero.

From what the various releases say it is for evaluation. If it draws in enough interest then I expect they will offer it or something similar in the future.
