    New model registrations

Post by Windy on Fri May 28, 2010 2:23 am

Two new Shanghai Motor vehicles have been added to the official government list of approved vehicles under the codes:

    • CSA6471 - thought to be the new Roewe SUV, thought to be based on the Ssangyong Kyron.

    • CSA7153 - thought to be the new MG3 using the NSE engine from the Roewe 350.

Cars tend to enter production two to three months after registration which may indicate the MG3 being on sale a little earlier than expected and an end to the long wait for the SUV due to the problems at Ssangyong.

It is not clear what engine the SUV will use. The obvious engine choice would be the 1.8 Turbo Kavachi but for a large SUV it is a little low on power, reports suggest that over the next two years the Nanjing Pukou MG factory will be expanded to produce the NLE alongside its current NSE (New Small Engine) line. The NLE (New Large Engine) is a "large displacement engine research and development programme, including NLE 2.0L/2.OT/2.4L/3.OL/3.6L displacement gasoline engines", the smaller models having a straight 4 configuration and the larger ones a V6 configuration.

Well it is the new SMALL engine Wink

It does seem a bit smaller than the old K-Series and I'm guessing that top plastic cover has a fair bit of air under it!
